Une nouvelle étude de Counterpoint revient sur les smartphones les plus vendus de l’année dernière. Un classement impressionnant tant il est dominé de la tête et des épaules par Apple.
Parmi les 10 smartphones les plus vendus de 2022, 8 sont des iPhone. Les deux autres places sont occupées par des smartphones Samsung. Une domination d’autant plus impressionnante quand on connait les tarifs élevés pratiqués par Apple
Les iPhone se vendent comme des petits pains
e classement de Counterpoint place l’iPhone 13 tout en haut du classement des meilleures ventes, entre janvier et août 2022. Sur l’année, ce seul modèle représente 28 % des ventes d’iPhone. En septembre, date de sortie des nouveaux smartphones Apple, c’est l’iPhone 14 Pro Max qui prend la place de leader en septembre, octobre et novembre, avant d’être remplacé par l’iPhone 14 en décembre.
Si Apple dominait déjà le top des ventes en 2021, cette cuvée 2022 est particulière dans la mesure où c’est la première fois que la marque américaine place huit de ses smartphones dans le classement. L’autre excellente nouvelle pour l’entreprise est que, pour la première fois grâce aux iPhone 14, son modèle « Pro Max » (le plus onéreux) se vend mieux que les autres.
Après un iPhone 13 qui s’est deux fois mieux vendues que l’iPhone 13 Pro Max en 2022, nous verrons si la popularité de l’iPhone 14 Pro Max lui permettra d’occuper la première place des ventes en 2023. En réservant les meilleures nouveautés à ses modèles « Pro », Apple a réussi à convaincre les utilisateurs de mettre la main au portefeuille. Une tendance qui devrait encourager la marque à se concentrer sur ses iPhone les plus « premium ».
Smartphone le plus vendu en 2021, l’iPhone 12 fait de la résistance en étant 6e du classement 2022. Un succès qui s’explique également par sa baisse de prix de ce modèle après la sortie des nouvelles versions. En 9e position, on retrouve l’iPhone SE 2022 qui est à la fois le moins cher des iPhone, mais aussi un des plus compacts de la gamme.
Samsung ramasse les miettes
Les deux seuls smartphones qui ne sont pas des iPhone appartiennent à Samsung. Il s’agit du Galaxy A13 (non 5G) qui arrive 4e du classement. Comme chaque année, le smartphone d’entrée de gamme de la marque coréenne est un franc succès et le Galaxy A14 est déjà dans les cartons pour 2023. L’autre modèle, qui occupe la 10e place des smartphones les plus vendus dans le monde en 2022 est le Galaxy A03, une autre référence d’entrée de gamme de Samsung.
Le classement montre aussi la capacité d’Apple à vendre des smartphones haut de gamme, pendant que son concurrent direct vend essentiellement des mobiles d’entrée et de milieu de gamme. Une tendance que Samsung tente d’inverser en continuant d’innover, notamment avec ses smartphones pliants, les Galaxy Z Flip 4 et Z Fold 4.
Samsung reste néanmoins le leader mondial de la vente de smartphones en volume dans la mesure où le classement ci-dessus ne compte « que » pour 19 % du total des ventes de smartphones dans le monde en 2022. Un chiffre stable par rapport à 2021. Counterpoint anticipe une augmentation de cette part en 2023. La société de recherche l’explique par une diminution du nombre de références proposées et une concentration vers les modèles haut de gamme, plus rentables pour les marques.
